Property Consultant

John is an independent property consultant. Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor, he has advised corporations, institutions, developers, trusts and individuals on their property interests and ambitions for some 25 years. After a career with leading specialist property advisers and valuers, John co-founded HBSV, Chartered surveyors in 1999. He resigned as Chairman in Autumn 2002 to become a consultant both to HBSV and privately.

Practising from offices in Gloucestershire and London, John provides a personal service in the following areas of property:

• Sourcing property investment opportunities, advising on suitability and portfolio balance, negotiating purchases and sales, introducing lenders
• Identifying development opportunities, appraising sites, advising on funding methods, negotiating funding and development agreements
• Valuation advice for both current assets and historically for capital gains and other purposes
• Strategic advice, particularly to corporations, in terms of asset rationalization (including disposals, sales and leasebacks and development), acquisition programmes, tax planning and landlord and tenant.

Using his wide experience in the industry and as an independent, John can advise clients on where to seek specialist advice and services in both the property and related disciplines and will put together and lead a team tailored to deal with the client's specific needs.

John is non-executive chairman of Advertising Site Management Ltd. Acting only for property owners and their commercial tenants, ASM is one of the limited number of firms specialising in outdoor advertising (hoardings and posters). ASM advises the proprietors of existing and potential hoardings' sites on value, planning, leasing and other issues.
